Monday, Monday

I was kvetching bitterly about aging and being invisible in society as a 48 year old woman, especially in Los Angeles.
Simon looked at me and asked, 'If you have to be a 48 year old woman, which you are, when and where in history has there been a better time to do so?"
I sputtered. thought about suffragettes, women not being allowed to vote, read, write, hold property or public office, average life-span in the Middle Ages, career opportunities in Victorian times, Mothers little helper in the 50's and my rights prior to 1973 and Roe V. Wade.

I am grateful to be a 48 year old woman in 2009. I may not like it all the time, but there are advantages.
