a bit of this n that
ok - we have a fucking good time, even if the coffers are dusty and empty. last night i made an exquisite dinner - tuna steaks(6 bucks) with this great 'bruschestta' - tomatoes, capers, onion, capers, basil - and then asparagus done with lemon. a couple of bottles of cheap wine and a free movie. a fire in the fireplace and just feeling good for a change. we just dug on the night and each other. watched the exorcist - the new one- renny harlin version with Stellan Skaarsgard, which i didnt mind at all. actually was entertained and found it to be great fun. want to see the 'other ' version, the cerebral, pyschological one badly. and then we watched apt pupil with the amazing ian mckellan. it was so nice.
simon got me chocolate and sang this ditty to me:
There's triangular chocolate,
And triangular trees (?),
With triangular honey,
Made by triangular bees,
Oh Mr Confectioner please,
Give me Toblerone.
this morning i went to the library and checked out some cool movies for the rest of the weekend - he wants to see the Big Lebowski, i want to see Being John Malkovich.
went to a yard sale that was dangerous - at an ART SCHOOL, no less. got a ton of sketch pads, journals, some unusual postcards, gifts for my nephew and niece, for 10 bucks. could have been much, much worse, but i have no $$ for that.
so simons friends are here from NY and we are meeting them for lunch. he is working this am and humming to himself. he loves his friend kevin and only gets to see him once a year or so. he has GOT to carve out a day this week to just hang with him.
and tonight he gets the 'fast becoming a ritual' tuna casserole' i cannot eat it anymore, but will happily prepare it for him. if wecan ave anything close to the good time we had last night i will be ecstatic.
if i had money, i would have gone to see Marianne Faithful last night. she is the ultimate diva as far as i am concerned. i heard her interviewed this morning and really think she should be queen of England.
