i have an opportunity to go see Harlan Ellison speak with Simon. Simon has never heard him before, but i have several times. this is being brought about by a friend of Blakes actually, who is going with us -

could be really strange and wonderful as there will be all sorts of bizarre folks there. i am pretty excited about this.
we went to the Getty to see a Paul Strand photo show that simon is writing up for the magazine. we wandered and saw another opening on Artists Books

there is supposed to be an interactive web site, but it is not live yet. check back, as this is a very wonderful show. there is a piece about Hildegard von Bingen - she was this amazing woman in the 12th century who painted her visions and heard music that she wrote. some people said she was a saint, some said she was possesed, but maybe she was just a little more tuned in than the rest of us. http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/med/hildegarde.html
anyway! its was really interesting - all sorts of books made from and about interesting strange materials - brushed aluminum, a metronome, leather, handmade paper... there are 25 pieces in the show, but i guess the archives there have over 5000 of these books.
been fighting a fucking migraine - had auras and mood changes all day. Simon has been worried, but i have just kept quiet and think i will take an imitrix before i go to bed if it gets worse. touch wood, its been awhile since a full blown one(headache) and i am hoping that this spell is over.. once i went 2 years without a migraine.
