she stayed for about 45 minutes and would still be here had i not literally said you have to go now.

That does not bode well.

It's been my experience that psychics (clairvoyants, mainly) fall into one of these categories:

The Sage
The Charlatan
The Storefront
The Psycho

The Sage - the man on the mountain or woman in the woods. They know the answers, they just wait for you to ask them. Quiet dignity, they take their gift seriously, don't do "parlor tricks" and rarely charge for their service.
The Charlatan (or carny) - They'd like you to think they have a gift and will cold read or spy for information to convince you of their lie.
The Storefront - perhaps real but embellishes or withholds information to ensure repeat business. Take their advice with a grain of salt.
The Psycho - Not sure if it's an imbalance that opened their mind in the first place or some experience during the course of it but some just seem... shattered (for lack of a better word). Talk too fast, too loud, try too hard for your attention and admiration. Don't know if it's unsurety or fear or something I can't quite put a finger on.

Most psychics will recognize others (even if they don't realize they are yet). The way you describe her reminds me of Poltergeist and the way the psychic describes the lost souls being drawn toward the little girl. Like she's drawn to you, your abilities. Her son? Perhaps to seem less threatening?

i cannot give her what she is asking for.

Are you referring to the being her "pal" part?
