heartbreak

so sad, so sad. I haave been trying to reach my cousin for days. they are in new algiers. God I love New Orleans and the resilience of the people there. I do not know how i would cope. we gave a little bit of money, but wish we could give more. My folks loaded up their truck and too a ton of stuff down there. It just brings back memories of the earth quake and how Blake and i were stranded for days without water, electricity or anything, with gas fires in the streets and all our broken things.... I remember how good it felt when I could finally take a bath again and wash clothes. Lord that was a tough time. I remember fema coming with water and supplies. We experienced our neighborhood turning into a third world country in seconds.
I am so angry that it took so long for this country to respond. I cant even speak about it intelligently. It is true that poor people dont count the same way as rich people in this world. I am disgusted at what this country is doing in Iraq and how we cant take care of our own. I saw this child on television last night and I swear he was channeling the grief of a region when he looked right at the camera with big dark eyes and just said, 'Shame".

Oh...you are so right. I just haven't been able to believe the scenes I've seen on my TV. Poor New Orleans.
I hope your cousin is OK
