fucking horrible weekend

i DID have a great dinner with Blake last night -that saved us from complete dispair.
our car got broken into(IN the garage) and totally tossed. the great stereo i got simon for xmas last year, gone with about 60 cd's. Simon got pissed and stayed that way - the police, what can they do? our landlord? fix the garage door. today we will see what our insurance options are. this triggered a fight between simon and i which does not bear going into, but ended with me crying on the floor like a little kid and his anger raging on about this country, about not being in control of his life, about not working.

I know this country has its problems, i know things are tough for us financially, but we are getting by! i am just whipped by all of this. i know my son knew something was up last night - he kept looking at me and asking if i was ok.

Simon needs some validation from someone/something other than me. again, i dont want to go into the details but its just so hard for him at the moment and i dont want him to give in to his anger.

i will keep a positive outlook. i do not care how corny it seems. we will beat this.

Insurance should cover the stereo. Hopefully you have the original receipt. The CD's would have been better covered under renter's insurance (not sure if such a thing is available in CA). For the most part, cops don't care but hopefully they'll be smart enough to send a list of the CD's you lost to second hand music stores. You may even want to do that yourself. If you find a good clerk and the perp walks in with them, he may get the guy to leave them there with a name and address saying he has to keep them for a day to check the quality, etc. Were they in the jewel cases or loose?

Whenever something bad happens and I'm stressing my husband says "Worse things have happened in your life." He's right. Also consider how bad things COULD be. You still have the car, you're still alive.

In the grand scheme of things... it's just stuff.

you are absolutely right. since i wrote this early today, we found out our insurance covers most of this minus a small deductable. i do have renters insurance, but our auto insurance will cover the CD's.
thanks so much for the support -

I'm sorry to hear about your car. That happened to me last year. It makes you feel angry, unsafe, violated, and all these other awful feelings. But at least you can be happy knowing none of you were hurt. It could have easily happened while you were in the car in the garage, you know just getting ready to leave, or just getting home. I hope you don't end up having to spend too much more than the price of a new stereo. The ones who broke into ours totally destroyed my car, so I couldn't even afford a new radio at first because all the damage and stereo were less than our deductable, but just by a little. So we had to pay for the car repairs first, then wait to get the stereo.
Feel better!

thank you for the support! all is much better - we are ok - the garage is right behind our apartment and we could have easily been back there. the burglars also generally trashed the garage(3 other cars - no other break ins, but they tried)
we found out our insurance covers most of the stuff after a deductable - its just stuff - we will get the car repaired and see if we can get a stereo, but its all better.
:0 )

i am sorry to hear about your experience, also. they are just cars, but the experience is just nasty. take care!
