phone issues

its a scary thing, calling the phone company. worse than endless prompts is when you actually TALK to someone.
we have been double charges for DSL for 5 months and i am trying to clear this up. See, this is the shit that makes one go postal, the little niggling life details. Technology. paper subscriptions. Trash collection. trying to communicate with the elusive "CUSTOMER CARE".
Put a face on this entity, would ya? they are located somewhere in the mid-west in a warehouse with a 5 acre parking lot. endless terminals - all PC and i swear they are interchangable and i get the same voice whether i want to cancel my sat-tv or add to my current DSL. if they have your social security number, its either all over or immediately cleared up.
unless of course someone is on break and in this case, you are relegated to hours of muzak - probably the theme from titanic rendered in harpsichord or a tin whistle arrangement.
okay, i have now been on hold for at least 25% of my incarnation on this plane. and all because they (again, elusive) made a mistake and have been double billing me. what if i hang up? on the bill there is an email address. dare i try this form of communication?
we are so dependent on this DSL that if we got cut off, it would be catastrophic.
shit. i have to get to work.
