scotcheggBlake moved out to his own place last week and is settling in.
we have worked all weekend on the room here he was staying in which is the guest room, but also my room.
we stained shelves, i hung curtains. unpacked boxes that have been stored since we moved. it has a long way to go, but it promises to be a wonderful space for me to do my thing.
will do the computer stuff in there and get to have my things out and hang pictures finally. it will really be cool looking. i painted the walls(or rather i picked the color and simon painted) deep teal, the curtains are unbleached cotton. i have a futon couch(ergo the guest part) and am covering it with an unbleached cotton spread, have paper lanterns up and bookshelves lining all the walls. it feels like my room - we realized that i have not had a space other than the kitchen(!) for almost a year to do my stuff in. well, i got to be a better cook but am so pleased to have space for my projects.
i know we wont be here forever - its not the best area and we want to move in a coupla years, but this is a definite improvement for me. Simon has had his office since we moved here and was determined that now i have mine.
got me to thinking about the work we have done - the fixtures we got at thrift/junk stores, the painting, the carpet when we had the money. lots still to do. the upstairs bathrooms are next. but all in all it is really coming along.
made butternut squash soup tonight and got rave reviews. did it with a curry twist.
dentist tomorrow - hopefully the last in a series of visits for a few months.
one last thing - gathered up spare change and a bucket of pennies - cashed it in and got 25.00 = will be going to the korean spa later this week for sure. okay one last thing for sure. i have a pet peeve when people go on about summer weather and how great it is - dont they get that we are in serious trouble with the drought????
